The Register of Deeds office files all birth certificates for people born in Macon County.

We have copies of birth and death records back to 1913; however we have some births in the late 1800's and early 1900's. These births are delayed births and were obtained by the child after 1913.

Requests for these records should be made in writing. Names and dates must be given in order for us to look up the information for genealogists. Uncertified copies are $0.25 each.

A certified copy of a birth certificate is $10.00. This copy may be used for any legal purpose. A photo copy is $0.25.

The Register of Deeds office files all death certificates for Macon County. A certified copy of a death certificate is $10.00. This copy may be used for any legal purpose. A photo copy is $0.25.

Please send a letter with all the information such as name at birth or death, date of birth or death, parents’ name with the mother’s maiden name, your signature & a return addressed stamped envelope. Please include your phone number so we may contact you if there is a problem. If you need a document faxed to you from this office, we require fax fees up front before we can fill your request.
